Scoring: All baskets count for 1 point only. Each game is 12 minutes
long. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins, or the first
team to score 15 points wins. If overtime is required to determine a winner,
there will be a 3 minute time period allowed. Subsequent 3 minute overtime
periods will be allowed until a winner is determined.
A coin toss will determine
the right to possession to begin the game.
The ball will change possession
after all made baskets.
Jump balls go to the
defense.
The ball will be “taken
back” on every change of possession. “Taken back” means both feet must be
behind the designated line. If a basket is made, the ball must be taken back. Failure
to take it back will result in the loss of possession and the loss of any
points resulting from that possession.
Elementary and Middle School
defensive players must check the ball before it is put into play after made
baskets, fouls or when the ball goes out of bounds. The ball must be passed to
a teammate to begin play.
High School and Adult
players do not need to check the ball. The ball must be passed to a teammate to
begin play.
After all fouls or when the ball
goes out of bounds or on a jump ball, the ball must be taken back. After a team
has 5 fouls, the other team will be in the bonus. In the bonus period you will
shoot 1 foul shot, if basket made, point counts and change possession. If the
basket is missed, the ball must be taken back by the rebounding team. The time
clock will stop during foul shots.
If a basket is missed, it is
a live ball. If the offensive team retains possession of the ball, it may
continue to shoot for a basket. If the defensive team gets the rebound, the
ball must be taken back before another shot can be taken.
Substitutions are allowed
only after made baskets by either team.
Flagrant, technical,
intentional, unsportsmanlike or misconduct fouls will result in the dismissal
of the offending player for the remainder of the game. Anyone involved in
punching or fighting, for any reason whatsoever, will be ejected from the
tournament.
Only three players per team
are allowed on the court during a game and only four players may represent a
team in the tournament.
